“Vaidyasala” meaning the traditional health care centre had humble beginning in 2001 nurtured and inspired by the veteran physician Sri. Vaidyavachaspathi K.C.KunjuRaman Vaidyan, of Mavelikkara, a village from central Kerala.
Dr. Viswanathan Umadethan
Dr. Viswanathan hails form an ancient Ayurveda family (Vadayakkatu family) of central Kerala having a history of more than 200 years, from the mother’s side and a much more older family (Chavercode family) from the Father’s side. He was inspired and motivated by his maternal grandfather vaidya vachaspathi Ayurvedacharya Sri. K.C, Kunju raman Vaidyan of mavelikkara to keep up the tradition and was supported to pursue Ayurvedic studies by his father, Dr.B.Umadethan , former Director of Medical Education to Kerala state.
He was trained with his Grand father, Vaidyavachaspathi Kunjuraman Vaidyan since he began his Ayurveda Studies since 1991. He had compiled a book in 1997 “chikilsanubhavangal”that explains the rich tradition of the clinical experiences of his Grandfather, the Family pharmacopea of rare medicines and herbs, their preparations and usages. He was also guided by the veteran Ayurvedic physician Vaidya. RaveendraNathan of an ancient Ayurveda home of kerala- “The Dhanwanthari madam”. He has been intensively trained in medical varmology( ancient marma therapy) by veteran marmajnaani Sri Shanmugham asaan of Coimbatore. He has also undergone intensive training Master TUNG acupuncture from Master.Lee Chewee Hoe. He has a deep passion for pulse diagnosis and trained under the guidance of the stalwart of pulse diagnosis Dr.Vasant lad.
He is married to an Ayurvedic physician Dr. Roshni Anirudhan who is a professor and head of paediatrics at Kerala Government Ayurveda College. The fifth generation continues the passion in the medical profession through his son, Gautham who is pursuing his medical studies at JIPMER.
